Students are growing up with more information, more pressure, and fewer opportunities to build the human skills that matter most: thinking for themselves, communicating face to face, and knowing their own minds.

Technology makes it easier to bypass those skills just as students are being asked to make increasingly important choices about classes, activities, colleges, majors, and careers — often before they have had the time or space to understand themselves.

you.i creates that time and space.

Through guided reflection, real conversation, and practical tools, students learn how they are wired, how they relate to others, and how to make wiser decisions in a noisy world.

Not another class or personality test, you.i is a guided self-discovery experience that helps students put who they are into their own words — and use that understanding for life.

Why We Built It

you.i was created by Sylvia, Eugene, and David — leaders whose careers span advocacy, law, finance, business, education, and leadership development, and parents navigating many of these same questions with their own children.

They built you.i after seeing the same gap at work, in the classroom, and at home: students are being asked to make increasingly important decisions before they have been given the time, language, and guidance to understand themselves.

Sylvia

Co-Founder | Advocacy, Strategy & Leadership

Sylvia is an award-winning human rights lawyer turned investor and the founder and CEO of Rebel for Good, a strategic advisory firm helping leaders and organisations turn their values into action. Her career spans advocacy, philanthropy, impact investing, venture capital, capital formation, and leadership development. She is also the founder of Rebelle, a community of women exploring how personal growth shapes the way they lead and create change. As a mother of two, Sylvia understands the challenge of helping young people discover who they are amid growing expectations and outside pressure.

Eugene

Co-Founder | Law, Business & Discernment

Eugene is a lawyer, General Counsel, business advisor, and adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. His career spans private practice and senior in-house roles advising technology, media, and consumer businesses across North America and Asia. He brings particular experience helping leaders exercise sound judgment, navigate uncertainty, and translate complex issues into practical decisions. As a father of two, Eugene is deeply interested in helping young people learn to think for themselves, develop their own convictions, and make thoughtful choices in an increasingly complex world.

David

Co-Founder | Education, Finance & Entrepreneurship

David is an investor, entrepreneur, educator, and the owner-instructor of a Kumon learning centre in Tustin. Before moving into youth education, he spent more than 15 years in investment banking, private equity, and management consulting. A former Kumon student, competitive tennis player, and youth coach, David brings a practical understanding of how confidence, discipline, and independence develop over time. As a father of three who works closely with students and families every day, he sees firsthand the importance of helping young people understand themselves beyond their academic performance.
